Things I have gotten done today in preparation for our
upcoming trip:
- Nothing
I'm a really good procrastinator. I could teach classes on how to be the best last minute person. While catching up with an old friend of mine today, we were talking about various people from high school that I'm still in touch with, and how they've changed or not over the past several years that she's not been in touch with them. It's funny how some people change, and something about them never do. I've always been a procrastinator. I'm sure I always will be. Growing up, I used to do my homework on the bus in the morning. I would look up periodically, and I knew I had to put everything away when we were passing a certain Chinese restaurant. Many, many years after I had left the school I still couldn't drive past that restaurant without having my stomach automatically tie up in knots. I was glad when they tore the place down.
But sometimes people's bad habits work for them in a good way. In my previous life, I worked as a public relations director of a non-profit, and had no problem whatsoever making last minute deadlines or throwing a press conference together in an insanely small amount of time.
Which is why I'm probably not worried about getting this trip together, while my mother seems to call with ever increasing frequency offering her assistance in figuring out our itinerary or shopping for Anna or anything she can do because to her it is inconceivable that I haven't done much planning. I've got passports, tickets and mostly reserved arrangements for where to stay the night. What else does a person really need?
