It occurs to me today that I really should be freaking out. I’ll probably be tomorrow – but not today. Today, I am only at the point of realizing that I should be. We are going to Israel soon – did I mention that? We will be there for two weeks and an extra Shabbat and are thrilled, excited and all around very happy about going. This is not our first trip by any means, but it is Anna’s first visit, and she’ll get to meet alot of our family that lives there who haven’t seen her yet.

Everything is wonderful, except for one thing. People keep asking me when we are going and I say “Soon” or “In about a month.” I think this past week I started saying “In just under three weeks.” Well, here’s where the freaking out part comes in. My husband and I were sitting down on Friday night going over our schedules for Sunday, going over the list of things on our plate for next week Sunday. And then he asked what we are doing the following Sunday. I thought for a moment and said, [Insert expletive here!] we aren’t in the country!

The truth hits: We are leaving in a week and a half! A week and a half!

Normally that would be fine – and I’m sure it still will be fine. Except here is the list of things left to do:

1. Reserve a rental car
2. Finalize sleeping arrangements for three nights of our trip
3. Decide what we are doing on, oh, just about every day
4. Make packing list
5. Shop for clothes for Anna for the trip
6. And maybe us too
7. Make list of gifts we need to get or things people have asked us to pick up
8. Pack
9. Figure out travel arrangements to and from the airport here
10. Work out renting a phone for the time we are there

Now all this can be done, and will get done, and my work schedule has slowed down to a more managable pace. But just in case you haven’t heard, “We are leaving in a week and a half!”

One Response to “Supposed to be freaking out”

  1. he he. I can relate. We are also leaving on vacation on the 20th. About a week and a half! I can’t do a THING to get ready until foster son goes home on MOnday. Then I’ll be racing around. Have a wonderful time!
