Things to do this weekend

It is so important to every family - no matter what kind - to do things together as a family. I know that we are certainly guilty of not spending enough time with our kids, and have resolved to work on that this summer. Well, all the time, really.

Speaking of which, here are a few ideas for what to do this weekend.

Shabbat Across America - If you have not yet signed up for this great program, it is probably not too late. Check out the event, run by the National Jewish Outreach Program at hundreds of synagogues across the country (and Canada) and across all denominations. Every synagogue has a bit of a different program. Many are free or low cost, all are open to all Jewish families looking to connect with others and reconnect with their roots. Call 1-800-44-Hebre(w) for more information.

Co-Existance Festival - This looks amazing! I hope those of you in the New Jersey/ Pennsylvania/ New York Area can get to some of the events happening here. There are free concerts, dance performances, arts and crafts and other amazing events celebrating diversity and co-existance. It also features the "Exhibition Coexistance" which was created in Jerusalem. Our family will certainly be there this Sunday.

Jews of Color - This is an exhibit currently on display at The Jewish Center in Princeton, New Jersey. "An exhibition of photographs and stories showcasing the faces and places that comprise today’s multicultural Jewish world." Looks good!

Denver Jewish Festival: Celebrate Family! Celebrate Israel! - This event looks like a combination of a walk for Israel and festival. Featured performers include Los Lantzmun, Steve Brodsky, Shalom Feivel and Rocky Mountain Jewgrass. The festivities include special events for kids and families such as face painting, balloon artists, inflatable, climbing wall, and a petting zoo. "In addition, the event will offer Artisan and Exhibitor booths, senior activities, Israeli dancing, singing and food."

Salute to Israel Day Parade - Don't forget about this event! The annual Salute to Israel Day Parade will be held this Sunday up Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. If you cannot be there in person (along with one million of your closest friends) check your local listings for television coverage of the event.
